The 2015 Down Under Sports Track & Field Meet was held from July 10th to July 12th and was nothing short of spectacular. The theme was USA vs The World with track clubs from Australia and other nations represented. When the dust had settled after three hard days of competition and the points from every single event in every age group were added up, the total combined team scores were: Team USA at 1,288.5 and The World with 1,205.5.
This year’s top male performer was 18-year-old American distance runner Arturo Sotomayor from California. He won the 1500m, the 2000m steeplechase and ran a leg on the gold medal 4x400m relay team. He also finished second in the 800m to Joseph Deng, 2015 Australian Junior Champion.
Female performers from the USA earned many medals during the three day competition, but the top performer was LaGae Brigance from Texas. In her age division, LaGae won the high jump, the 400m dash, ran a leg on the gold medal 4x400m relay, and finished second in the 200m dash. The coaches from Team USA are already excited for 2016 and hope you can be a part of it.
